In Japanese street vernacular, "Yama Chari” やまチャリ is the casual, everyday slang for mountain biking, shortened from the humble mamachari town bikes ridden through Tokyo alleys. 
The term Yama Chari intentionally strips away the sterile, corporate jargon of "MTB" and roots the sport in Asian street slang. It reframes off-road riding from an exclusive, high-barrier sport into a free, expressive extension of city street culture.
